Beatles were an English rock band that came into existence and had their activities in the 1960s. The band consisted of four members, namely, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They released their first album, ‘Please please me’ in 1963.
Recently, the band completed the Golden Jubilee of its one of the last albums, ‘Abbey Road’. Abbey Road was released in 1969 and it completed its 50th anniversary. On 8th August, fans gathered at the Abbey Road to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the album whose cover was shot on the very same day at the very same place, 50 years ago.
Back in 1969, it was the same day when the Fab Four walked across the street for the cover of the album. At 11:35 A.M. on the day, they got ready for the shoot. The shoot was completed in 10 minutes by the photographer Iain Macmillan. The police held the traffic for those ten minutes while the photographer snapped the Fab Four. Six pictures were snapped out of which the picture was chosen which now exists as the cover of the album. The picture was chosen due to the perfect synchronized footsteps of the four.
The car in the background of the picture was finally sold off in an auction. This was due to the fact its number plate got stolen way too many times before the owner finally decided to sell it off.
There were conspiracy theories arising after the album that the real Paul McCartney was dead in 1966 and he was replaced with a lookalike. However, Paul ridiculed this theory with his 1993 live album.
The next year marks the 50th anniversary of the last album of Beatles which was its 12th album. It will be the last 50th anniversary of the albums by Beatles.
