Parrish was primarily a magazine illustrator but gained the most fame from mass produced prints of his paintings such as Daybreak, Stars and Dreaming. These prints have remained popular over the years despite the changes in art styles. After a long and successful career, Maxfield died at his home in Cornish in 1966 at the age of 95.
