Disney Shows A Red Light For ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Sequel And Rosa Salazar Is Not Surprised By It

Alita: Battle Angel has now officially been made into DVD and blue ray.

The movie starring Roza Salazar and Cristoph Waltz was supposed to release way back in February, however, all these months Disney kept mum about green-lighting the movie.

The director of the animated film, Robert Rodrigues showed a keen interest in making a sequel. But the movie was totally a bubble film, at least in terms of box office collection, the film was a hit or miss.

Alita, the battle angel had no doubt a number of fans, but the sequel became highly questionable due to the immense cost it requires in production and it’s the inability to ensure adequate returns. However, Salazar claims that this might have to do more with the Disney-Fox merger than just the revenue-generating capacity of the film.

The actress recently spoke to Slashfilm about the possible release if the film and was quick to point out that the delay had a lot to do with Disney’s acquisition Fox.

Yeah, I mean, they had a crazy merger. People are gaining jobs, people are losing jobs.

The whole Disney-Fox acquisition is so involved that this is not the right time for me to call Alan Horn and be like, ‘Hey bro, I know you got a lot of work going on, but like what about Alita 2 ?’” she said.

Sure, we all understand that things like these take time. Nevertheless, it would be great to get an update on a possible sequel as soon as possible.

In the meantime, fans can rest assured that Salazar is ready to reprise her role as the cyborg. The last film ended with Alita challenging Nova after she won the motor ball. Now what comes in the second or if we will get to see one at all is for time to tell.
